So, who's tempted you to read this?

My first ever post! To tell you I'm excited, well...not really, but a little nervous? maybe...I mean, who would be interested in what I have to say?

I am approaching my 50th birthday and when I was growing up that was old, but now I'm here it isn't really. I'm not in bad shape and I still have moments of immaturity, the odd silly voice when talking to my kids, thinking I could still do a job on the football pitch or maintain 20mph on a bike over 100 miles! - I really can't! While the mind can play tricks and convince you you're still the sprightly youth from 30 odd years ago, the back and the knees have their say as I grunt and heave myself out of bed in the morning.

I don't do the fashion thing and I'm definitely not a techie. I'm not a pensioner yet and the childhood and adolescence has long gone. So I'm not young anymore but I'm not old either. The internet seems to cater for people in groups of age or gender, specialist interests or entertainment genres. I have many interests and decided to put something together that might just provide something for everyone.

So, I'll probably provide a further introduction into my life and upbringing, how I arrived at this time and place in life. I might demonstrate some of my cooking skills by throwing a couple of recipes onto the site every now and then. There will be plenty of references to the place I live and the activities I pursue, such as walking and cycling - I might even share some of my routes with you! I completed a masters degree last year so education may be thrown in, my kids go to school so there's another topic, and as a family we've done a bit of travelling so you might get the odd holiday review.

The intention of writing this blog is to provide me with an opportunity to review my progress to date and perhaps conclude that I haven't done too bad so far, but I also want to share with you, the reader, my experiences, thoughts and views and encourage you to do the same. So, as I sign off this post, I hope my blog will grow into an interesting, informative and entertaining read that encourages interaction with its readers.
